Our Story

Welcome to Wanderways, a true story out of wandering ways! Founded and managed by Guillermo "Memo" Maldonado with the vision to offer the best vacation experience to adventure-driven travelers staying in Wanderways vacation homes and to help other property owners turn a real estate investment into a successful venture.

From Memo:

I was born and raised in Puebla Mexico, though my wandering ways have taken me to live in 5 countries and 10 cities, travel in 4 continents, and work in places like tiny taco joints to multi-national corporations. I also learned and practice all sorts of adventure sports, from kiteboarding to snowboarding, from mountain biking to snow-kiting, and now I'm an avid wingfoiler. 

Married before, settled in the US Pacific Northwest, living in White Salmon, WA, nestled in the beautiful Columbia River Gorge. Over the last decade, also invested in properties in sunny La Ventana, Baja Sur, Mexico, where I spend some time every year. We turned our properties into vacation rentals and have been amazed by the positive feedback and the high demand we have received from our guests.

Younger, I worked in the tourism & hospitality industry, and in the last 15 years I worked for Microsoft growing into highly demanding Director roles in Marketing & Operations. While professionally accomplishing, it led to a very stressful and unhealthy life. This is when the story turns a corner. I made a life-changing decision and transitioned out of corporate life to better align my professional and personal passions.

Leveraging my hospitality, high-tech, and marketing professional experience, my bilingual and bicultural background, my passion for adventure and meeting people, and most importantly our proven success in investing and managing vacation properties, it became pretty clear what this new venture should be.

And that is how my wandering ways brought me to start Wanderways Vacation Rentals.
